Wilma R. Merrell

In accordance with Wilma’s wishes there will be no services.

Wilma R. Merrell, age 82, of Monticello, Kentucky passed from this life Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Jean Waddle Care Center.
Wilma was born May 9, 1940 to Raymond C. Carothers and Gladys M. Shaw-Carothers in Ashtabula, Ohio.
She was a member of Rectors Flat Baptist Church and during their 63 ½ years of marriage, lived in several different states including, Florida, Michigan, Virginia and Kentucky. She enjoyed crocheting and crocheted hats and baby blankets for infants in the neonatal unit. Wilma had award winning blankets, some placing at the Wayne County Fair. Her life’s work was caring for children. She loved caring for plants and had a green thumb.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Gladys Carothers, son, Barry Merrell, and sisters, Louise Wolfe and Pamela Jane McFarland.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 63 ½ years, Harold Merrell; sons, Douglas (Regina) Merrell of Monticello, Ky; Leslie Merrell of MI; sister, Diane Bradbury of FL; grandchildren, Jamie, Heather, Lisa, Bonnie, Eric; great-grandchildren, Braden, Aiden and Roland; a myriad of friends in her church and community.
In accordance with Wilma’s wishes there will be no services. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Wilma R. Merrell.
