William Douglas Tharp

William Douglas Tharp, age 75, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on October 24, 1946 in Anderson, Indiana, son of the late Dolphus and Alice Ginder Tharp. He was a disabled Vietnam Veteran and had served 25 years in the United States Army. He loved to read and study his Bible, enjoyed sports, music, and jigsaw puzzles. He also loved his miniature dachshund, Coco.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Beulah Tharp; two brothers, Dennis and Perry; and two sisters, Judy and Kathy.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carol Tharp; three children, Phillip, Michelle, and Rachel; five grandchildren, Cicely, Lance, Karisa, Evan, and Colton; daughter-in-law, Sondra; one sister and two brothers, Lisa, Mike, and Lester; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with funeral services to be held at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Mark Harrell officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery. Full Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
