William “Bill” Smith

William “Bill” Smith, age 90 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

He was born on January 19, 1933 in Somerset, son of the late Raymond Lee and Ruth Serena Loveless Smith.

Bill was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. He retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation and had been an EMT, worked with the Rescue Squad, and was a Mason at Burnside Masonic Lodge #634. Bill enjoyed antique cars, going to car shows, especially Somernites Cruise, and reading. He liked tractors and all aspects of the farm life, traveling, he loved his dogs and most of all he loved and cherished his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother who raised him, Zella Smith; his wife, Myron “Peggy” Smith; son, William Lee “Mickey” Smith, Jr.; brother, Kenny Smith; son-in-law, Raymond Bell and granddaughter Christina Renee Bell-Baker.

He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Floyd) Stigall and Brenda Bell, all of Somerset; brothers, Richard Smith and Gene Smith; sisters, Shirley Osburn and Frances Cox; grandchildren, Scott Bell, DeAngela Skaggs, Jordan Stigall, Billy Ray Smith and Elizabeth Gholson; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one special niece Ronda Smith Ricks whom he loved as his own.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home with Bro. Tim Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in the Alexander Cemetery in Bronston.
