Roy Oval New

Roy Oval New, age 98, of Delta, Kentucky passed from this life Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at his home.

Oval was born on July 22, 1924 to the late Dewey New and Dovie Branscum New in Wayne County, Kentucky.

He was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church and served as deacon for over 50 years. He enjoyed riding his lawn mower and loved his dog, “Little Bit”.

Oval was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Dovie New, his wife, Vontella Kidd New, sons, Fred Lewis New and Darrell Wayne New, daughter, Aughdean New, brothers, Arville New, Estil New, Ottis New, J.S. New, Delbert New, Lester New and sister, Clonie Sutton.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons, Bobby (Lynna) New of IN; James New of Delta, Ky; Roy New Jr. of Somerset, Ky; daughters, Carol Gregory (Richard Floyd) of Delta, Ky; Donna Koontz (Bill Knight) of Berea, Ky; Velma Tucker of Somerset, Ky; grandchildren, Beverly (Jeff) Jones, Krystal Scott, Michael (Janie) Gregory, Angela (John) Kidwell, Pam (Jamie) Lewis, Robin Knight, Sierra Knight, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 10 A.M. at the funeral home with Bro. Jason Bertram and Bro. Michael Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Wayne County, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cedar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Full Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Honor Guard Post 38.
