Robert Lee Sroufe, Sr.

Robert Lee Sroufe, Sr. age 75 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

He was born on September 1, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Oscar and Ina Colyer Sroufe.

Robert was a retired Safety Officer for Somerset Police Department and a retired Salesman for Kern’s Bread Co. He was a life member of the Orie S. Ware Masonic Lodge #874, Stearns, Kentucky. Robert loved to hunt, fish, and go camping. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, “JR” Robert Lee Sroufe, Jr. and an infant sister.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Sroufe; son, Jarrod Sumner (and Rebecca) of Somerset; daughter, Sheila Sumner of Somerset; grandchildren, Jessica Whitaker (and Mack McCranie) Janessa Sroufe, Jase Sumner, and Amelia Sumner; five great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Linda Dugger of Florence. He also leaves behind numerous close friends.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2020 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with funeral service to be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Carter and Bro. Mark Hutchinson officiating. Mason Service will be conducted by the Orie S. Ware Masonic Lodge #874 at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Private family entombment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
