Porter E. Jones

Porter E. Jones, age 86, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at his home.

Porter was born on March 2, 1937 to the late Rufus Jones and Eva Perkins Jones in Whitley City, Kentucky.

He enjoyed playing bingo, watching westerns on TV especially Gunsmoke, he liked going to dog races and spending time with family and friends.

Porter was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Eva Jones, daughter, Dee Gregory, brothers, Robert Jones and Noble Jones, sisters, Cloma Keith and Bertha Ross.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons, Kirby Jones of Nantucket, MA; Gordon (Tina) Jones of Boston, MA; Paul Jones (Terrin) of ID; Roger (Tammie) Smith of Somerset, Ky; daughters, Sandra Jones of Nantucket, MA; Kim Morgan of Somerset, Ky; Marcy Dillman of Somerset, Ky; brother, Paul (Ruth) Jones; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1 P.M.

Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Honor Guard Post #38.

Burial will follow in Cooper Creek Cemetery in McCreary County, Ky.
