Paul Hemmelgarn

Paul Hemmelgarn, age 90, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
He was born on July 29, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Paul and Mary Sweeterman Hemmelgarn.
He retired from the Key Corporation Bank in Dayton, Ohio and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Paul was also a member of St. Mildred Catholic Church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hemmelgarn; one son, Steve Hemmelgarn (and Ruth Ann) of Dayton, Ohio; six daughters, Pam Grillo (and Wayne) of Dayton,Ohio, Kelly Shelton of Georgia, Tracy and Armondo (Alfaro) of North Carolina, Lisa Collins (and Bert) and Blacksburg, Virginia, Leslie Shelton of Ohio and Apryl Shelton of Michigan. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Mildred Catholic Church with Father Joseph Von Handorf officiating.
Entombment will be in the Catholic Gardens at St. Mildred Church.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Paul Hemmelgarn.

Paul was a wonderful person and an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed. My only regret is that I didn’t get to know him better. His long ordeal is finally over, his suffering is ended and he is young and strong and joyful. May God bless Paul and his family and may God give him peace and joy.
