Michael W. Blackson, age 73 of Bronston, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, December 22, 2023 at his home.

He was born on June 9, 1950 in Harlan County, Kentucky, the son of Helen Harp Blackson and the late William Blackson. 

Michael was of the Baptist faith and had worked for Paramount Coal as an Electrician. He was a coal miner for 36 years and enjoyed collecting model trains. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia Blackson; his mother, Helen Blackson of St. Paul, Virginia; son, Michael S. Blackson (Chrissy) of Virginia; daughter, Kelly Elliott (John) of Knoxville, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Lisa Adams (Danny) of Somerset; brothers, Steve Blackson (Barbara) of Virginia and Jacky Blackson (Lisa) of Virginia; grandchildren, Ashton, Austin and Raina Blackson and Jack Elliott; step-granddaughter, Olivia Armitage; and a host of other family member and friends.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Bro. Ernie Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Southern Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Michael W. Blackson.
