Matthew Eric Hayes

Matthew Eric Hayes, age 35 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on July 20, 1984 in Ashland, Kentucky, son of the late Kenneth and Marta Rodriguez Hayes.

Matthew loved Batman and his favorite color was purple. He loved eating pineapples, and had big dreams of being a doctor, a police officer and a dairy farmer. His latest dream was someday finding a grandpa sensei to teach him karate. Anyone who knew Matthew loved him and he will be sorely missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his sister; Marta Alonso, niece, Julieta Alonso and nephew, Victor Eric Alonso, all of Covington, KY, his “second mothers”, Katie Lewis and Angela Adkins, both of Somerset, his “Granny” caregiver, Kathy Wilson of Somerset, and also Hailey and Colton Wilson whom he loved like his niece and nephew. He is also survived by so many friends and extended family at Serenity Foundations who he loved dearly.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Serenity Foundations, 4183 Hwy 192, Somerset, KY 42501.

In lieu of flowers, his sister has requested that donations be made to Serenity Foundations in Memory of Matthew for his memorial service.
