Lyvonne “Midge” Tarter Childers

Lyvonne “Midge” Tarter Childers age 76 of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Friday, February 16, 2024 at her home with her daughter and granddaughters by her side.  

Midge was born on July 22, 1947 in Hazard, Kentucky, daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy Smith Tarter. She was of the Nazarene faith.

She enjoyed traveling, especially going to the beach with her family. She loved her girls only trips with her daughter and granddaughters. She also loved camping, baking, making Christmas candy and shopping. Midge loved and cherished her family most of all.

Midge has now been reunited with her husband Emby “Bim” Childers, who passed away in August 2018; 1 brother and many other relatives.

She is survived by her daughter Polly (Greg) Dunn of Somerset; granddaughters, Caila (Matt) Thompson, Sarah (Chris) Mink, Alyza Parkey (Seth) and Jenna (James) Moody; son Mark (Donna) Childers of Somerset; granddaughter Allyson (Josh) Mofield; daughter Cathy (Johnny) Fisher; grandsons, Tyler Cox, Matthew Cox and John Fisher; 8 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Kingtown Cemetery in Strunk, KY.
