Johnny Withers

Johnny Withers, age 66, of Somerset, Kentucky, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July, 16, 2019, unexpectedly at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Johnny was born on January 12, 1953 in Indiana, son of the late Chester and Lucy Roy Withers.

Johnny loved God with his whole heart, soul and might. He enjoyed reading the Bible at 2:00 a.m. in the mornings because he loved God’s word where he studied a lot and learned a lot. He enjoyed the outdoors just looking around at God’s creation. He especially loved the mountains and its view. In his later years, he started serving God and going to church. He attended Line Creek Baptist Church for many years. Johnny was a Veteran of the United States Army and was employed at Paul’s Discount for 16 years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him but we know that our loss is truly Heaven’s eternal gain.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, 11 months and 24 days, Kay Withers whom he married on August 9, 1975. He is also survived by one brother, James (and Carol) Withers of Lafayette, Indiana; one sister, Janice Kroge of Texas; his mother-in-law, Tena Franklin Miller of Somerset; four brothers-in-law, Larry Franklin, Gerald Franklin, Gary Franklin and Arlis Franklin, all of Nancy and a special lady he called Grannie Darlene VanHoosier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and their husbands, Betty and Edd Bragg, Joyce and Junior Burton, Ruby and Bob Weddle, and Carolyn Withers; a special brother-in-law, Ken Kroge and a special nephew Butch Burton.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Garrett Tuttle and Bro. Jack Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
