Jerry Allen Grant

Jerry Allen Grant, age 80, of Somerset, KY, died January 24, 2020 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset surrounded by loved ones.
He was born November 13, 1939, in Gallatin, Tennessee, to the late Lloyd and Lucy Grant. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1964 and spent the next twenty-eight years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1992 with the rank of Colonel. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, and enjoyed singing in the choir, playing golf, keeping an immaculate yard, and growing a large garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lucy Grant of Gallatin, TN, and two brothers: Ralph Grant of Gilbert, AZ, and Robert Grant (an infant) of Gallatin, TN.
He is survived by his loving, caring wife of 47 years, Nancy Nicholas Grant, whom he married on November 5, 1972, in Somerset, Kentucky; two sons, Michael (and Karen Smith-Grant) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kenneth (and Latonja) Grant of Midwest City, OK; one daughter, Nicole (and Heath) Dolen, of Lexington, KY; one step-son, Robert (and Michele) Pierce of Somerset, KY; one step-daughter, Vickie (and David) Elkin of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren: Nicholas Grant and Emma Hope Dolen of Lexington, KY; Semaj Grant, of Midwest City, OK; Eric (and Hannah) Walker, Jr. of Warrenton, VA; Kristine Pierce of Lexington, KY; and Lauren Turner of Somerset, KY; five great-grandchildren: Tripp, Tristan and Riley Walker; Rylan Turner and Hayden Campos; one great-great-grandchild, Aspen Campos; one brother-in-law, Buster (and Linda) Nicholas of Naples, FL, special Military friends (“The German Mafia”), and numerous other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 4 to 5 P.M. for family and 5 to 7 P.M. for public at Oak Hill Baptist Church and from 12 P.M. to 2 P.M. on Monday, January 27, 2020. Funeral services will begin at 2 P.M. with Dr. Harold Brown and Pastor Gary Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Baptist Cemetery. American Legion Post 38 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Oak Hill Baptist Church building fund.
