James H. Cook

James H. Cook, age 72 of Ferguson, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, October 27, 2023.

He was born on May 21, 1951 in Somerset, Kentucky, son of the late James and Jewell Moore Cook. He was a self-employed painter and of the Church of God faith. He loved to fish, camp and enjoyed being outdoors. Most of all he cherished his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Cook, Jr; daughters, Daphne Ann Wesley and Contia Cook; brother, Michael E. Cook; and sisters, Linda Sears and Janice Sutherland.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Cook; daughters, Jamie (Christopher) Walker and Jenny (Phillip) Brumley, all of Somerset; son, Jimmy Cook of Somerset; brother, Robert (Carol) Cook of Eubank; sisters, Sue (Frank) Bryan, Elaine Cook and Cathy King, all of Somerset; sister-in-law, Patty Roberts Dugger; grandchildren, Delores and Austin Adams, Dustin and Kela Mayfield, Jonthan Mayfield, Josh (Katie) Mayfield, James and Kim Wesley, Tiffany Wesley, Dominick Cook, Ashley Cook and Nathan Gibson, Jr. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Saline Cemetery.
