Jackie B. Phelps, age 75 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on June 14, 1948 in Drum, Kentucky, son of the late Oren and Alpha Carlton Phelps.

He was a former Lineman for RECC for 13 plus years and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church #1. He enjoyed racing his Malibu at the drag strip and watching UK Basketball. He loved to fish, go rabbit and squirrel hunting and raise Beagle pups.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Glenda Phelps; 2 sons, Jackie Randall Phelps (Stephanie) and Jamie Phelps, all of White Lily; 2 daughters, Jennifer Viars of Somerset and Jessica DeBord (Richard) of Woodstock; 3 brothers, James Floyd Phelps (Irene) of White Lily, Lloyd Raynold Phelps (Peggy) and Don Richard Phelps, all of Somerset; 1 sister, Elva Faye Mounce of Somerset; 11 grandchildren, Samantha Blevins, Hunter Phelps, Josh Mincey, Brittanie Hines, Jimmy Goldson, Ashley Phelps, Kaeona Barron, Joshua Inabnitt, Lukas DeBord, Owen DeBord and Kolson DeBord; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and former co-workers.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Bro. Charles Hines and Bro. Doug Eggers officiating. Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery #1. Pallbearers will be Richard DeBord, Mitchell Shelton, Michael Shelton lll, John Slavey, Jackie Randall Phelps and Jamie Phelps.
