Helen J. Nicely

Helen J. Nicely, age 78, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Helen was born January 31, 1943 to JB Jasper and Ada Leese Jasper in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church and completed undergraduate studies at University of the Cumberlands and obtained her Master’s degree in Music Education at Eastern Kentucky University. She taught piano lessons, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, coloring and formerly played piano at Ringgold Baptist Church. After retiring from teaching piano, she was employed for 15 years at Wal-Mart.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, JB and Ada Jasper. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Gary Nicely; son, Christopher Nicely of Somerset; daughter, Angela (Dan) Brock of Somerset; sister-in-laws, Linda (Allen) Parrigin and Teresa (James) Carrender both of Somerset; grandchildren, Hannah Nicely, Eowyn Brock and Ripley Brock.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1 P.M. with Bro. Tim Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in Woodstock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Helen J. Ni
