Gene Gordon Phillippi

Gene Gordon Phillippi, age 78 of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Monday, December 9, 2019 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Unit of Lake Cumberland.
Gene was born June 16, 1941 to the late Herman Phillippi and Lillian Purcell Phillippi in Somerset, Kentucky.
He was a Somerset High School Graduate Class of 1962. He married his wife, Judith Ann Burton on August 4, 1962 in Somerset, Kentucky. Gene retired from East KY Power Station, where he was a loyal employee for twenty- eight years plus. He was a Member of First Christian Church, he served as a Deacon, Elder, and was on numerous committees over the years at the Church, He was also a member of the Orwin Sunday School Class. He was a Member of Somerset Lodge #111 and Lexington Scottish Rites. He was an avid UK Basketball fan, and enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, but his greatest love was his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Phillippi; Bill Phillippi, Rodger Phillippi; sister in law, Anne Phillippi; brother in law, Bill Sutton.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Judith; his son, Jeff Phillippi (Leisa) of Somerset; daughter, Kristi Hunley of Somerset; brother, Parker Phillippi of Somerset; sisters, Wanda Smiley (Lester) of Florence, KY; Ann Tompson (Don) of Somerset; Sue Sutton of Somerset; Margie Garner (Kelly) of Indiana; Kathy Randolph (Charles) of Science Hill; grandchildren, Allison Phillippi of Lexington; Dylan Phillippi of Lexington; Rachel Hunley of Somerset; and Alex Hunley of Somerset.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the First Christian Church 1115 Ky. Hwy. 39 Somerset, Ky 42503.
Masonic Rights Service will be held by Somerset Masonic Lodge #111 at 7 P.M. Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Church.
Visitation prior to the funeral service will be Friday, December 13, 2019 from 9 to 11 A.M. at the Church.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 13, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church with Dr. Mike Gatton and Bro. Steve Lesher officiating.
Pallbearers will be the Elders of the First Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jean Waddle Hospice Unit.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
