Eleanor Louise “Lou” Phillips

Eleanor Louise “Lou” Phillips, 81, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday October 5, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on April 14, 1936 in Greene County, Indiana, daughter to the late Ernest and Leone Canada. She was a charter member of Denham Street Baptist Church. She retired from the Palm Beach Company where she worked as the plant nurse and payroll clerk for 34 years.
Lou was known for her kindness and the love that she showed her family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. After retiring, she enjoyed working in her flower beds and playing bingo. Mrs. Phillips was a lifelong Kentucky Wildcat Basketball fan. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Starlin Phillips; her son, Steven Phillips and her sister, Norma Kirk.
Lou leaves behind to cherish her precious memories, daughters, Beth “Elaine” (Garry) Wilson of Science Hill, Linda (Reggie) Stringer of Somerset; grandchildren, Jeremy (Becky) Wilson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Kristi (Skip) Branscum of Ferguson, Andrea Stringer of Columbus, Ohio, Shawn (Sara) Stringer of Lexington, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Ethan Hall of Florence, Kentucky, Lyla Wilson and Thomas Wilson of Little Rock, Arkansas. A special niece, Carolyn Dillman of Bloomfield, Indiana, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Phillips will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 6:00 o’clock pm until 8:00 o’clock pm in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 1:00 o’clock pm in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Dr. Garry Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Wayne County, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon’s Memorial Bible Plan.
