Dorothy Faye Taylor, age 75, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away from this life on Friday, February 16th, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones.
Dorothy was born October 5th, 1948 in Pulaski County, KY to the late Roy Paul and Bessie Lee Dykes.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to go shopping, loved to cook, sew and watching all the babies. She was a member of Mt. Victory Baptist Church in which she attended, as long as her health allowed. She also enjoyed in her younger years camping and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Paul and Bessie Lee Dykes, her baby sister Sissy Dykes; brother Jaril Lee and Gary Wayne Dykes; father-in-law and mother-in-law Abie and Margie Taylor; sister-in-laws Maudie Fayrene Taylor and Peggy Jo Taylor; brother-in-laws Wayne Taylor, James Helton, Earl Mounce; son-in-law Dewey Gene Smith and others James Mounce, Sandy Mounce, Wendy Dykes and Addi and Maddi Mink.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory the love of her life and husband of 56 years, James Tilford Vernon Taylor; daughters Melissa (Tony) Caldwell, Pamula (Mike) New, Janice Whitaker (Shane Honeycutt) and sister Jaril Dean Taylor; sister-in-laws Joyce Mounce and Debbie Helton; brother-in-laws Billy (Jeanie) Taylor, Marshall Taylor, and Eddie Dale (Darlene) Taylor; grandchildren Dakota Smith, Rob (Emily) Smith, David (Kayla) Caldwell, Rebecca Oakes, Sarah Taylor, Maryjo New, Amber (James) Vinson, Haylee Honeycutt (Gunnar Cook), Emma Taylor, Bella Taylor, and add on grandkids Alexis (Dakota) Poynter, Alivia Carr; great grandkids Trevor Smith (Emmalie Haag), Dustin Ridner, Cody Alcorn, Kimber and Kayleigh Caldwell, Conway and Sawyer Vinson, and Natalie Poynter, great great grandchild Jameson Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation service will be on Wednesday, February 21st, at 11-1pm and Funeral service at 1pm with Bro. Charles Meece and Bro. Brandon Taylor officiating, at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Interment at Taylor Cemetery, Pulaski Co.
