Daniel “Danny” Troy South

Daniel “Danny” Troy South, age 63, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Danny was born on January 9, 1961 to the late Frank L. South and Mary Van Cleve South in Waukegan, Illinois.

He was of the Baptist faith. He had an eccentric sense of style and loved riding motorcycles. He loved to cook spicy foods and working on cars. He loved animals, especially dogs. He was an avid collector of jewelry, baseball cards, and matchbox cars. He enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren when they were small.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary South, brothers: Frankie South and Kurt South and sister, Marilyn Lawanda Merlin.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter, Anastasia Gragg (Jordan) of Science Hill, Ky; wife of many years, Nancye Grider Ayn, brothers: Robert Van Cleve of Monticello, Ky; Barry South (Kelly) of IL; Michael South of Bronston, Ky; sisters: Debby Beers (Lonnie) of NY; Christine South of Round Lake, IL; Kathy Snell (David) of Somerset, Ky; Tammy Pogue and Cindy South  both of Somerset, Ky; grandchildren: Lexia Tigue (Ethan), Jordan Blake Gragg and a great-grandson, due in August.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 5 to 6:30pm at Maranatha Baptist Church 57 Cedar Grove Road Somerset, Kentucky 42501 with a service to begin at 6:30pm. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Daniel “Danny” Troy South.
