Dane McWilliams

Dane McWilliams, age 57, of Somerset, Ky passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was the son of Jean and the late Harold (Hank) McWilliams, husband of Becky Meece McWilliams and father of Mary Kate McWilliams Hargis.

Dane was the best son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He loved to hunt and was a terrific grill master. He enjoyed watching sports, playing with his grandsons and being outside. He was a proud United States Marine (1984-1988) and he always said, “Once a Marine, always a Marine”. Dane was often referred to as a “wealth of worthless information”- if you had a question, he had the answer. He was a funny, loving and a wonderful man.

Dane was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Dawn McWilliams and his grandmother, Lucy Armstrong.  He is survived by his mother; wife of 31 years; daughter; a sister, Scottie Gastineau (Dan); 3 grandsons, Silas, Isaac and Rowan Hargis; sister-in-law, Janet Evans (Frank); son-in-law, Ben Hargis; nieces, Kara Jensen (Tim), Jenna Roach (Jesse), Sarah Rogers (James), Ashley Smith (Mark) and Molly Floyd (Ryan); nephews, David Merrick II and Mike Stansberry (Kari).

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors in the ICU and CVU at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, for the wonderful and compassionate care they gave to Dane during his illness.

Dane you are loved and will be greatly missed. Semper Fi, Marine.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 1, 2021 at 12 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 2 P.M. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Dane McWilliams.
