Carolyn Ping

Carolyn Ping age 79, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Carolyn was born on February 29, 1944 to the late Samuel Brinson and Fannie Glover McGowan in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was a member of Saline Church of God. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, canning and cleaning her home. She loved Christmas and decorating for the special holiday. She cherished her family.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Brinson and Fannie McGowan, brother, Carriel VanHook, sisters, Alta Tomlinson, Bernadean Walker, Geathel McGowan, Alfreda Stevenson and son-in-law, Paul Strange.

 She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 64 years, Gerald Ping, daughters, Debra Chaney (James) of Shopville, Ky; Sherry Strange of Ferguson, Ky; grandchildren, Ashley Gholson (Nick), Jesse Taylor (Kari), Eric Taylor, Casey Taylor (Brittney), 15 great-grandchildren; along with special friend that she loved like a sister Karen Heath.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 11am-1pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. Stan Rutland officiating. Burial will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carolyn Ping Memorial Fund. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Carolyn Ping.
