Byron L. Wooten, age 68, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Byron was born on November 30, 1954 to the late Eugene and Geraldine Cox Wooten in London, Kentucky.

He was of the Baptist faith, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, an antique enthusiast and loved spending time with family and grandchildren. He retired from the Kentucky State Police, after retiring he worked for many years for the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

Byron was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Geraldine Wooten, brother, Terry Grimes and sister, Sharon Stevenson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Jenny Wooten, daughters, Angie Broyles of Somerset, Ky; Amy (Shawn) Hail of Clinton, TN; Kristi (Shannon) Fraley of Somerset, Ky; Ashley Bussell of Brodhead, Ky; brothers, Barry (Brenda) Wooten of Hustonville, Ky; and Derek (Cindy) Wooten of Somerset, Ky; grandchildren, Gracen Broyles, Aden Broyles both of Somerset, Ky; Taylor Hail and Brittney Hail both of Clinton, TN; Colton Fraley, Carson Fraley, Camdon Fraley, Jordyn McGuire and Kynlie McGuire all of Somerset, Ky; Rylie Bradley of Mt.Vernon, Ky; along with great-grandchildren, Paisley Raby and Westlyn Phillips both of Clinton, TN.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 2 P.M. with Bro. Scotty Nix officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Cemetery in Brodhead, Kentucky.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Hail, Greg Broyles, George Flynn, Bear Calhoun, Clinton Miller, Danny Parrigin, Shannon Fraley and Jeff Morrow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
