Bonnie L Hash Hansford

Bonnie L Hash Hansford of Somerset, Kentucky passed peacefully from this life on June 20, 2019 at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky surrounded by family and friends, having attained the age of 83 years. Bonnie was born in Ano, Kentucky on November 20, 1935. She was preceded in death by her mother, Zella Hash Speaks, and step-father, Oscar Speaks. She was a member of The Church Of God for 64 years and had an unshakeable faith in God. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, VJ “Jackie” Hansford of Shopville, Kentucky. In addition to being a devoted housewife and raising four children, Bonnie was employed as a seamstress at Clyde’s Men’s Shop, The Lion’s Den, and Hughes’ Department Store, and later was a cook at Shopville Elementary School. In her spare time, Bonnie enjoyed sewing, cooking, quilting, crocheting, and canning, and was well known for her homemade pies (including homemade pie crusts) and Italian Cream Cakes. She also enjoyed reading and watching Hallmark movies. She is survived by four children, Anita Hansford Link of Somerset, KY, Jackie Allen & Linda Rutherford Hansford of Ferguson, KY, Alva & Mary Jones Hansford, and Andy & Jill Floyd Hansford, both of Somerset, KY. Bonnie is also survived by six grandchildren: Scott & Dana Godbey Hansford, Mia Hansford, Danny & Angela Hansford Baker, Victoria Sutton, Sarah Hansford, and Andrew Hansford, and five great-grandchildren: Victor Hansford, Jackson New, Callie New, Kinsley New, and Aaron Baker. Bonnie is also survived by two brothers: Conway and Mary Deane Speaks of Somerset, KY, and Doyle and Marion Speaks of Rock Island, TN, two sisters: Marilyn Speaks of Somerset, KY, and Betty Lee “Pat” and Dennis Hale of St. Petersburg, FL, three sisters-in-law: Sharon Speaks, Lucille Speaks, and Christine Whitaker, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. In addition to being preceded in death by her husband, mother, and step-father, Bonnie was also preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Hash Burdsall, two brothers, JT Speaks, and Arnold Speaks, one son in law, Bill Link, and one brother in law, Johnny Burdsall. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Bonnie will greatly miss her unwavering love for her family, sweet smile, sharp wit, and humble spirit. Pallbearers for Bonnie are Scott Hansford, Andrew Hansford, Victor Hansford, Jackson New, Conway Speaks, and Doyle Speaks. Ministers in charge of the service are Brother Herman Hamilton, Sister Polly Wilcox, and Sister Allene Topham.
Visitation will be Monday, June 24, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. at the chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Herman Hamilton, Sister Polly Wilcox, and Sister Allene Topham officiating.
Burial will be in the Cedar Gap Cemetery. In the Dahl community.
