Benny Strunk

Benny Strunk, age 69, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life to his eternal home on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Benny was born May 3, 1953 to Namon Strunk and Edith Colyer Strunk in Tateville, Kentucky.

He was a member of Potters Place Church and he liked playing pool, singing, riding motorcycles and being on the security team at church. He loved visiting with people. Benny most of all cherished his family.

Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Namon and Edith Strunk, daughter, Christal Montaigne, brothers, Wayne Strunk and Samuel David Strunk, sisters, Edna Harrison, Gladys Johnson, Charlotte Strunk and Sue Dowell.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 34 1/2 years, Peggy Jo Strunk, son, Jacob (Kathy) Fikes of Nancy, Ky; daughter, Melisha Phillips (Rocky Smith) of Tateville, Ky; sisters, Wilma Cook, Ann Nicholas and Marilyn (Cricket) Strunk; grandchildren, Savannah Fikes, Josh Phillips, Dakota Chriswell, Brittany (Evan) Shelton, Joanna Montaigne; great-grandchildren, Octavia, Ocxavian and Oaklynn; along with special friends whom he cherished like family, Ronnie and Judy Black and Travis, LeeAnn and Taylor and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Bro. Kevin Hampton, Bro. Perry Dobbs and Jim Harris officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
