Allen Shelton, AKA “Big Al”

Allen Shelton, AKA “Big Al” age 53, of Sloans Valley, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Russell County Hospital.

He was born on June 28, 1966 in Wayne County, Kentucky, son of the late JR Thomas Mason and Betty Jo Davis Shelton.

“Big Al” enjoyed playing the guitar, going fishing and hunting and driving his truck. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and his grandkids. He was a member of Grave Hill Baptist Church and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; Oneeda Helton Shelton, two sons; Joseph Allen (Jennifer) Shelton of Russell Springs and Joshua Allen (Deana) Shelton of Burnside, one daughter; Brittany Shelton (Daniel Rupert) of Burnside, one brother; Tommy Joe Shelton of Somerset and one sister, Teresa (Garry) Hill of Burnside. He is also survived by four grandchildren; McKenzie Rupert, Nevaeha Rupert, Daniel Rupert and Emmarae Shelton.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sloans Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Allen Shelton Memorial Fund, C/O Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
