Alfreda H. Russell, age 71, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Friday, July 1, 2022 at her home.

She was born December 20, 1950 in Somerset, Kentucky to Porter Hughes and Nanny Margaret Haynes Hughes.

She was a member of Bogletown Pentecostal Church and loved her church family. Alfreda was born to be a nurse and worked many years at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She enjoyed taking care of her flower bed, crafting and taking pictures. She loved when her husband sang to her and listening to him play his guitar. She loved her family with her whole heart and seeing them come through the door. She loved her pet cocker spaniel “Rocky”. She was always kind, caring and comforting to everyone she knew. To know her was to love her.

Alfreda was preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Nanny Hughes, brother, Marlon Hughes and grandson, Logan Russell.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Harold Thomas Russell Sr.; sons, Harold Thomas Jr. (Bonnie) Russell; Tony Scott (April) Russell; Rodney Gordan (Amanda) Russell; Kevin Stewart Russell all of Somerset, Ky; daughter, Rita Russell (Jamie) Todd of Somerset, Ky; brother, Maynard (Mary Ann) Hughes of IN; sister, Marvelena Collinsworth of Somerset.

Grandchildren, Shelbie (Kendell) Brinson, Tiffany Russell, Briar Russell, Lee Wayne Russell, Rodney Jr. (Jamie) Russell, Kurt (Samantha) Russell, Tosha (Austin) Gilliat, Leah (Michael) Kean, Stewart (Kristyn) Russell, Dylan (Chassidy) Keith, Laci Russell, Bristol Russell; bonus grandchildren: Caitlin (Bryan) Carter, Haley (Johnny) Cummins, Jacob Todd, James Todd, Andrea “AJ” Branscum;

Great-grandchildren, Avrie Jo Brinson, Caitlin Russell, Erica Russell, Elijah Russell, Cooper Russell, Aria Gilliat, Bentley Kean, Colton Kean, Noah Kean, Oaklee Kean, Carter Russell, Addy Epperson, Sophie Keith, May Keith; bonus great-grandchildren: Kennedy Davis, Mackenzie Davis, Randi Davis, James Carter and Malachi Branscum.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2022 from 12 to 2 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 2 P.M. at the funeral home with Bro. Tim Dishman and Bro. Lester Randolph officiating. Burial will follow in Haynes Cemetery. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Alfreda H. Russell.
