Vernon B. Deaton

Vernon B. Deaton, 92, of Eubank passed from this earthly life Thursday, January 18, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born in Rockcastle County, Ky. On Oct. 4, 1931 son of Arthur Lee Deaton and Nona Garrett Deaton.
Vernon worked factory work in Indiana and Ohio, and was one time president of the union where he worked. He owned Deaton’s Grocery in the 70’s and the 80’s, and Deaton’s Trucking in the 80’s.
Over the years, he also run a restaurant in Brodhead, did logging and farmed. He loved to work on the farm and to fish. He was member of Woodstock Baptist Church.
He is survived by four children, Danny (and Janice) Deaton, Brenda (and William) Wheeldon, Kathy (and Roger) Pittman, and Chad (and Courtney) Deaton; two sisters, Lois (and Bob) Petrey, Loretta Sizemore; three brothers, Ernie Ray (and Wanda) Deaton, Bobby Deaton, and Jack (and Georgia) Deaton; seven grandchildren, Angel Hopkins, Pam Hylton, Lee Ann (and Chris) Williams, Amy Foster, Susan (and Steve) Cornelius, Jude Deaton, and Desi Deaton; and ten great grandchildren, Lindsay Evans, Shelby Eddy, Seth Hilton, Ava Foster, Emma Foster, Brooke Hopkins, Dylan Hopkins, Clara Williams, Conor Williams, and Nicole Ware.
He was preceded in death by four brothers Coy, Clell, Roger, and Jimmy Deaton; one sister, Ruth Petrey; a granddaughter, Karen Ware; and a great grandson Noah Foster.
A funeral service will be held at Woodstock Baptist Church at 2pm on Friday, January 26, 2024 with Dr. Daryl Jessie officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2pm before the service begins. Burial will be in the Woodstock Cemetery.
