Edward W. Godby

Edward W. Godby, age 76 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on July 18, 1947 in Somerset, son of the late George and Edna Girdler Godby. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and driving the children’s church bus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edward Wayne Godby, Jr; brothers, Earl Godby, Charles Godby and Bobby Gene Godby; and sisters, Shirley Saffer, Rosetta Goff and Verna Bray.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Godby; daughter, Melissa Godby of Somerset; sisters, Donna Dykes of Indianapolis, IN and Vickie Nicholas of Somerset; and three grandchildren, Amber Rehg, James Baker and Justin Hill.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home with funeral services to be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Fisher officiating. Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Cameron Nave, Justin Hill, Brett Smalley, Wayne Rehg, Troy Bullock and Kelly Bullock.
