David S. “Dave” Ross

David S. “Dave” Ross, 76, of Pine Knot, Ky. peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Dave was born at home in Strunk, Ky. on February 19, 1947 to the late Melton and Viola (Troxell) Ross. He is survived by his wife Wilma J. (Hickman) Ross whom he married on August 25, 1965.

Other survivors include, a daughter, Angie (Rodney) Lilly, of Perrysburg, Oh; sisters, Carlie Slaven of Strunk, Ky; Patty Parker of Allen, Va; Shirley Proudfoot of Hortense, Ga; Kentucky (Troxell) Sheffstall of Trenton, Oh; and Dave’s pride & joy, his 2 grandsons, Clayton Scott Lilly and Colby Ross Lilly who lovingly referred to him as Cowboy Poppy, and his dear friend and caretaker, Susan Morrow & her family.

Sisters, Gin Stevens, of Tiffin, Oh; Jean Chitwood, of Marion, In; and brothers, Jack Hill, of Tiffin, Oh; William Hill of Marysville, Wa; Bob Hill of Fostoria, Oh; Maurice Hill of Tiffin, Oh; Floyd Troxell of Cincinnati, Oh; Wilt Troxell of Strunk, Ky; Ralph Ross of Lawtey, Fl; & Lincoln Ross of Jeckyl Island, Ga, and his step-father Clarence Troxell all preceded him in death.

Dave was an over the road truck driver until he moved to Pine Knot, Ky where him and his wife ran their store, the Express Mart.

Dave was an amazing steel and lead guitar player and was a part of many bands throughout the years. He always enjoyed getting together with other musically talented family and friends. Country music was a part of who he was. He will be greatly missed. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no service.
