Karen Ruby Strunk

Karen Ruby Strunk, age 57, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, August 18, 2023.

Karen was born on January 1, 1966 to Porter Brake Jr. and Anna Geraldean Rednour Brake in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church, where she married her loving husband, Timmy on June 14, 1986. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids on the family boat on the lake. She took her job very serious and was very proud, working as an Area Specialist for Rural Development for the USDA. She was very proud of their son, Cody’s career at East Kentucky Power Cooperative.

Karen and her husband both passed from this world together doing something they loved. She was also preceded in death by her father, Porter Brake Jr. and nephew, Nathan Brake.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory,  her mother, Anna Geraldean Brake of Somerset, Ky; her son, Cody Strunk (Bobbi Jo) of Richmond, Ky;  brothers, Terry Brake and Tommy Brake (Elissa) of Somerset, Ky; like a son, Josh Brake (Brandi) of Eubank, Ky; nephews, Blaine Brake and Jordan Brake (Destiny) of Somerset, Ky; granddaughters, Caitlin Strunk and Chloe Strunk; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 5pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11am in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Clyde Strunk and Bro. Ron Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Karen Ruby Strunk Memorial Fund. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Karen Ruby Strunk.
