Donald C. Simmons

Donald C. Simmons, age 66, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Donald was born on March 12, 1956 to Donald Cyrus Simmons and Norma Grace Kohli in Toledo, Ohio.

He was of the Southern Baptist faith and he served at Home Church Unity Baptist in Jacks Creek, Tennessee and Pastor of Pine Knot Southern Baptist Church. He was an independent Contractor for SRI and graduated Magna Cum Laude, he had degrees in Religion, Psychology and Science. He enjoyed traveling and taking cruises all over the world.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years, Meisha Simmons, son, Steven (Diane) Abel of Adamsville; brother, Daniel Simmons (Kathleen Freaney) of Bakersfield, CA; sisters, Susie, Nancy, Becky, grandchildren, Brett, Alexis, Nicholas, Glenn, Alyssa Abrom; 6 great-grandchildren; special friends, Pastor and mentor, Dr. James (Cathy) Huggins; Charley (Pat) Dean; best friends Jimmy (Phyllis) Thompson and James (Lisa) Hanson; along with a host of family, friends. He witnessed to everyone he met.

According to his wishes, he will be cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Unity Baptist Church at a later date. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Donald C. Simmons.
