Mary Sophia Vaughn

Mary Sophia Vaughn, age 83, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Mary was born November 9, 1938 to Willis Jackson and Abby Sulfridge Jackson in London, Kentucky.

She was a member of Church of God of North Carolina and enjoyed fishing, quilting and watching westerns. She enjoyed singing and going to church when she was able, and especially enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Abby Jackson, her husband, Bro. Ray Vaughn, daughters, Kathy L. Stevens and Sharon K. Vaughn, sister, Wilma Grubbs, brothers, Charles Robert Jackson and Arnold Jackson, grandchildren, Ashley Stevens, Kassie Burke, Jace Morrow and Christal Montaigne.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Phillip (Judy) Vaughn of Short Creek; Jerry Ray Vaughn of Short Creek; daughters, Sandra Faye (John) Thomas of Somerset; Mary (Rodney) Stevens of Tateville; Marsha (Jimmy) Carlton of Short Creek; Melinda Carson of Somerset; Abigail (Randall) Marler of Burnside; Becky Vaughn; son-in-law, Buddy Stevens of Tateville; 22 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Bro. J.C. Birchfield and Bro. Bradley Goforth officiating. Burial will follow in Vaughn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 6 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 1 P.M. with Bro. J.C. Birchfield and Bro. Bradley Goforth officiating. Burial will follow in Vaughn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to London Church of God of North Carolina.
