Robert Elmer Troxtle

Robert Elmer Troxtle, age 96, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Jean Waddle Care Center.

Robert was born June 2, 1925 to Andy William Troxtle and Ada Calhoun Troxtle in Greenwood, Kentucky.

He excepted the Lord at Old Path Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool and spending time with his family. Robert retired from Ford Motor Company in Sharonville, Ohio. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy in WWII.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Ada Troxtle; his wife, Gertrude Lay Troxtle; sons, Boyd Lay and Doug; daughter, Noreen Shields; brothers, Thurman, Jim, Hershel Troxtle; grandchildren, Jackie, Rodney and Robbie; sisters, Darlene and Lucille Adams.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, brothers, Gene Troxtle and Jack (Linda) Troxtle both of Somerset; sister, Faye Bates of TN and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Honor Guard Post #38.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 1 P.M. at the funeral home with Bro. Bradley Goforth. Burial will follow in Ringgold Cemetery. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Robert Elmer Troxtle.
