Dorothy “Dottie” Kay VanHook, age 63, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
She was born on February 8, 1956 in Tateville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Charlie Beasley and Lorene Jones Bryant.
Dottie managed Lee’s Famous Recipe for many years and, was of the Protestant Church of God faith. She loved studying the Bible, keeping journals and enjoyed time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alden Dwayne VanHook; daughter Bobby Jo Harrison; and sisters Phyllis Bacher and Margie Woodall.
She is survived by a daughter, Chasity Ramsey of Somerville, S.C.; a brother, Louie “Buddy” Bray of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Sue Perry of Somerset and Kathy Buckler of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Hannah, Gabrielle, Cheyenne, and Josh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with funeral service to be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday at the funeral home with Bro. Bobby Bell officiating. Burial will be in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
