Rev. Alden Dewayne Vanhook

Rev. Alden Dewayne Vanhook age 63, Somerset, Kentucky passed away from this life Friday, December 18, 2020 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Dewayne was born September 22, 1957 to the late McKinley and Wanda Hood Vanhook in Somerset, Ky. He married the love of his life Dorothy (Dottie) Vanhook in January 1991. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Dottie, step-daughter, Chasity Ramsey of South Carolina, brothers, Randy Vanhook (Vicki) of Somerset, Ky and Timothy Vanhook (Lynda) of Science Hill, Ky, grandchildren, Hannah Ramsey, Gabrielle, Cheyenne, and Joshua Harrison. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Bobby Jo Harrison; sister, Kimberly Richardson; brother, Robert D. Vanhook; paternal grandparents, George and Martha Vanhook and maternal grandparents, Lonzo and Alma Hood.

Dewayne accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very young age, attending Cotter Ave. Church of God. After being, called to the ministry, he founded and pastored, “The Open Door Ministries of God” for several years. His loved for the Lord was truly evident by his testimony and witnessing to everyone he met.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 P.M., burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Oaks Funeral Home for burial expenses for Alden Dewayne Vanhook.
