Melissa Irene Whitis age 31 of Somerset, Kentucky was taken way too soon from this life.

Melissa was born August 10, 1988 to Larry Duane Farris and Rosetta Turner in Lexington, Kentucky.

Melissa was of the Baptist faith, she loved her children, she was a Pulaski County High School graduate of 2006, she enjoyed to cook, cook outs, shopping, get togethers, baking with her daughter, Emily. She was currently enrolled at Somerset Community College.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Shelby Jean Farris; and Lester Turner, Sr.

Melissa leaves behind to cherish her memory, her parents; grandmother, Margaret Ann Brose; grandfather, Larry Farris, Sr.; husband, Clifton Lee Whitis, Jr.; children, Ethan Lee Farris; Emily Nakia Ann Whitis; Sophia Pearl Lynn Strunk; Skylar Paul Davis Strunk; niece, Kaleah Elyse; brother, Byron Patrick Jackson (Amber Lea); uncle, Lester Turner, Jr.; cousins, Christopher C. Turner; Angel M. Turner (Stagger); aunt, Betty F. Austin (Anthony); cousins, Chase Austin; Joseph Austin; Chandler Austin; Camron Austin; and cousin, Jessica Wood. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will begin at 10 A.M. Sunday, October 13, 2019 in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 1 P.M.

Burial will be in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
