William “Bill” H. Cross, age
81, of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at
Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Bill was born on November 21,
1934, in the Susie Community of Wayne County, to the late
William Hardy and Nannie Bell Cross.
He was a member of the Wayne County High
School Class of 1952.
He married Rosemary Correll, in
Monticello, on December 8, 1955.
Bill was a veteran, serving his country
in the U.S. Navy.
He was a retired conservation officer.
Bill was an avid member of Slate Branch
Baptist Church, serving as deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife,
Rosemary; their sons, Gary Cross, of Whitley City, and Danny
(and Marsha) Cross, of London; his brothers, Lyle (and Judy)
Cross, of Monticello, and Arthur (and Becky) Cross, of Ohio; two
grandchildren, Kelli (and Andy) Fisher, of Somerset, and Whitney
(and Chris) Schumacher, of London; and two great-grandchildren,
Blakelynn Fisher and Lily Fisher.
Preceding Bill in death are his
parents; and his brothers, Bud Cross, Jim Cross and Jay Cross;
and his sister, Faye Stinson.
Visitation will be Friday,
February 19, 2016, after 5:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral
Funeral services will be held
on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 12:00 noon, at Slate Branch
Baptist Church, with Bro. Bill Dawson officiating.
Burial will be in Slate Branch Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to the Slate Branch Baptist Church Building Fund.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements.
