Robert Wayne Cox

     August 11, 1948 - July 27, 2016

Robert Wayne Cox, age 67 of Somerset, and formerly of Danville, entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his beloved family and friends.

Robert was born in Danville, on August 11, 1948, to the late William Earl and
Anna Laura Smock Cox.  He was a kind and gentle man who loved the Lord, church and family.  He began his faithful Christian walk under the leadership of Bro. Charles White and was a member of the old Church of God of America, in Danville, before uniting with the Trinity Fellowship Church of God, in Somerset.  Robert loved reading his bible and was an ordained Deacon with the church.

He was united in companionship with Ms. J. Deanna Coleman and they celebrated 20 years of love, laughter and kindness to each other. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Cox.

He is survived by his loving companion, Deanna Coleman; her brother, who was Robert’s primary caregiver, Bishop Eric (Bernice) Barnes, of Somerset;  brothers, George Cox, of Lancaster, William “Bill” (Rosie) Cox, of Nicholasville and Larry Gene Cox, of Harrodsburg; one sister, Betty Cox Absher, of Nicholasville;  his special and loving nieces, Linda Gayle Sparks, Peggy Sue Neal, Ruthie Reed, all of Nicholasville, and Brenda Trosper, of Danville; and two nephews, William Earl Reed, of Nicholasville, and Robert Earl Cox, of Ohio; along with one aunt, Myrtle Smock Cox, of Lawrenceburg; two special Christian friends, who he considered as his god sons, John Hendrickson, of Danville, and Brother Kevin Crittenden, of Louisville; and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2016, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Danville at 1570 N. Danville By-pass (Hwy 127), Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM, at the church, with Bishop Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in Nicholasville.
