Robert “Bobby” Kelley Mattox, Jr.

     April 21, 1946 - January 6, 2016

Robert “Bobby” Kelley Mattox, Jr., age 69, of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.

Bobby was born on April 21, 1946, in Maysville, to the late Price and Katherine Prather Mattox.  He was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army.  He married Linda Ard on October 30, 1971, in Jellico, Tennessee.  They have two daughters from their union.  He enjoyed being outdoors, particularly going fishing and hunting.  Bobby, better known by many as his CB handle, “Blue Boy”, loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #269, a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and member of the Somerset Masonic Lodge #111.  Bobby was a member of the Ringgold Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; their daughters, Mona Nichols (and Daniel Hoffman), of Somerset, and Sonya (and Ben) Proffitt, of Somerset; his sisters, Nancy (and Charlie) Conn, and Patty Brown, both of Morehead; his grandchildren, Michael (and Julia) Hart, Alecia (and Adam) Bullock, Kelly Howard and Madysen Proffitt; his great-grandchildren, Addy Bullock and Logan Hart; his sister-in-law, Sherlene Mattox, of Flemingsburg; Sue, who was thought of as a sister, (and Jeff) Wright, of Science Hill; and his special family at the Somerset Dialysis Center.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Mattox; and his sister, Edna Savey.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 10, 2016, after 6:00 p.m., in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Bobby Cole and Bro. Kevin Bullock officiating.  Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Hoffman, Ben Proffitt, Adam Bullock, Tony Ping, Gene Ard, Ron Ard Jerry Vaughn and Jeff Wright.  Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hart and Kelly Howard.

Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
