Billy Ray Hood, 77, of
Bronston, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, January 13, 2016,
in his home while being comforted by his wife.
He is survived by his wife,
Patricia Ann Hood, of Bronston; one son, Timothy Hood and wife
Kimberly, of Lily; a grandson, Timothy Ray Hood, of Lily; three
brothers, Raymond Hood and wife Jennette, of Knox County, Boyd
Hood and wife Kathy, of Corbin, and Harvey hood, of Knox County.
Bill was preceded in death by
his father, Raymond Hood, Sr.; mother, Goldie K. Hood; first
wife of forty-eight years, Effie Brown Hood; and two brothers,
Samuel Hood and James Bascum Hood.
Bill was the son of the late
Raymond Hood, Sr. and Goldie K. Hood, born July 11, 1938, in
He was a Veteran of the United States
Bill was retired from his career of
thirty-three years at Chrysler Corporation, in Kokomo, Indiana.
He was an enthusiastic gardener.
He loved growing huge vegetable gardens
in the spring, sharing his harvest with friends and neighbors.
Volunteering for the Backpack Club was
an important passion he shared with his wife.
He attended Calvary Baptist Church, in
Somerset, where he dearly loved his church family.
Bill’s personality brought home
to all the scripture, “A Merry heart doeth like good medicine”.
He loved to laugh and share laughter
A visit with Bill was sure to bring many
Bill had a heart of gold.
He was a true blessing and ministry to
anyone he knew in need.
The love he poured into his friends,
family and wife will continue to bless their lives long after
Visitation will be on Saturday,
January 16, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home
Funeral services will be held
on Sunday, at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with Bro.
Gilbert Robinson and Bro. Jamey Epperson officiating.
Burial will be in Southern Oaks
In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
